Wow! It is hard to believe that we are almost at the end of Term 2.
This term Stage 2 students have been attending the library and have been using Google Classroom as part of their Science Lessons. Next term will see Stage 1 students coming to the library to use Google Classroom as part of their Science lessons.
Classroom makes it easy for learners and instructors to connect—inside and outside of schools. Students are able to access this virtual classroom on most smart devices (Tablets, Smartphones, Mac & PC).
Students can access Google Classroom from their kids space portal (accessed through the DET website) found at: http://www.dec.nsw.gov.au/.
Premiers Reading Challenge 2017
Our students are now beginning the Premier's Reading Challenge for this year.
Students are now able to enter books they read on their personal reading logs.
To access their personal reading log students need to go to the PRC Website found at:
Students then click 'logon' and use their school computer log in details to access their personal reading log.
World Book Online
World Book Online is an online encyclopedia that allows students to access a variety of information, videos and pictures.
World Book Kids has been specifically designed for primary school students while World Book Students is aimed at upper primary.
World Book Online is an excellent online information source, which has current and accurate information for students to use both at home and at school. Students are aware of the username and password but should you require them please do not hesitate to contact the front office.
World Book Online can be found at: http://worldbookonline.com/wb/Login?ed=wb.
Overdue book notices were sent out last week.
If you feel that the book(s) have already been returned, please let me know by writing a note on the back of the overdue notice.
The book will then be searched for and hopefully located within the library or in the student's classroom, as occassionally books may not scan properly.
If, however the book is unable to be located, we request that a replacement fee of $10.00 is paid to help cover the costs of replacing the book. Payments for books can be made at the front office. When paying for a book please ensure to take the overdue notice with you so they can pass it back to the library to allow the book to be deleted from your child's name and taken off the library management system.
The closing date for Premier's Reading Challenge 2017 is the 25th August so start keeping your reading log.
Students are able to borrow up to 4 books each week. It is important to remember to look after books borrowed by:
1. Keeping books in a library bag;
2. Having a special place at home for your library books;
3. Keeping books away from babies and pets;
4. Having clean hands when reading;
5. Turning pages carefully;
6. Not eating or drinking while you read; and
7. Making sure lids of drink bottles and lunch boxes are secure.
Don't forget to keep on reading as -
